new guestbook and site

· 2-minute read

i've been having fun messing with it but now i think it's ready for the public...

check out my guestbook!

leave me some comments if you'd like!

i also completely overhauled my main site npckc.net so now it is ALSO in hugo, just like this site!

follow my main site on neocities!

i've been wanting to move it away from carrd for a while. i still really like carrd & i'm going to keep it for my individual game sites, but after tinkering around with hugo i've just been having a lot more fun with it, & it works better for sites that have more stuff.

my carrd was getting unwieldy with dozens of months of patreon supporters listed... now i just have each month as a separate post & have hugo list up the posts for me automatically!

i forgot how much fun web dev is. (i was more into making websites back when iframes were popular.........) this site uses mainly just css & html (plus javascript for some things, like the guestbook for loading the spreadsheet of comments dynamically so i don't have to build the site again every time a comment is added) but honestly there's so much you can do in just css & html now?

accordion details menu!

while updating my main site i found out you can use the same name in multiple details tags to make it so only one of the details can be opened at one time...! feels like javascript magic but that's all css transitions & html! incredible, really.

please go look - i'm very proud of it!

there was so much cool css stuff that i didn't have any use for but i'm hoping i will be able to use it one day... but here on this page i've used one i probably won't have any use for which is a css style where you only style the first letter of every paragraph 😆 i just wanted to use it so i'd remember that it exists...

could be useful for any digital mediaeval letterers out there though...!
