a visit to atelier lilium

· 2-minute read

yesterday i went to atelier lilium with a friend! atelier lilium is the new yuri book cafe opening in ikebukuro later this month - they currently are doing a little pre-open.

the other cafe with yuri books that i know of, anchor, is in shinjuku, but their selection is a bit smaller lately (though the place is still very good & i'd definitely recommend paying a visit if you're in town) & the location is a bit less convenient for getting to from the station, so i can definitely see myself visiting atelier lilium when i want to kill some time in ikebukuro.

atelier lilium is just around the corner from animate, so seriously - very convenient!!

yuri cafe! lots of shelves, lots of books

there weren't that many people there - maybe five or six...? so it was quite relaxing! for the pre-open, it was 1000 yen for one hour with a drink included, but not sure if it'll be the same for the future.

though there wasn't a food menu (not sure if that will change in the future), the drink menu was larger than i expected for a book cafe, with stuff like melon cream soda & vienna coffee! i think want to try their herb tea next time i go.

melon soda with green yuri book

the selection was pretty varied with stuff that was definitely lesbians (one of my faves, she loves to cook, and she loves to eat, was there) & stuff that is more (in my opinion) just yuri-coded (like yuru camp, which i love & do think personally is pretty gay, but doesn't actually have the characters in romantic relationships in the story).

there were a lot of titles that i've wanted to read but haven't got around to yet.

i got to read the kpop yuri manga that i'd been meaning to pick up at some point!

"can i call you unnie" book

the full open is apparently at the end of the month & there's some opening event stuff as well. i don't think i want to go on a day it's too crowded though, since i'd prefer to read when it's more quiet. i'm looking forward to finding a day to just sit in the cafe & read a lot of yuri though!

it definitely made me wish there could be something like this for visual novels though... like a place where they have a lot of visual novels already on computers & you could just spend a day reading them. somebody, please make a visual novel cafe!
